International Badminton Showcase in Horsens, Denmark

EM badminton 2025

Nest week, Horsens, Denmark, will transform into the beating heart of European badminton. From 8–13 April 2025, the city hosts the European Badminton Championships for Individuals at Forum Horsens – an event that promises high-level performances, top international athletes, and strong Danish presence.

The eyes of the badminton world will turn to Horsens, where the continent’s best players compete for gold – and the press is invited to follow it all up close.

Media representatives can now apply for accreditation via team.badminton.dk/media.

A Championship Built on Strong Partnerships

The event is the result of a broad local and national collaboration between Badminton Denmark, the City of Horsens along with local partners, and Sport Event Denmark.

“The European Championships in Horsens are the culmination of a strong and valuable collaboration between Badminton Denmark, the municipality, Sport Event Denmark, the local club and hundreds of dedicated volunteers,” says Kristian P. Langbak, President of Badminton Denmark. “This teamwork is exactly what enables Denmark to host world-class international sporting events.”

Over the past decades, Horsens has undergone a remarkable transformation from a former prison town to a thriving cultural and events destination. The European Championships and next year’s Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2026 further establish the city’s image as a top-tier event host.

“These two badminton championships are more than sports – they’re a showcase of our community,” says Peter Sørensen, Mayor of Horsens. “Here in Horsens, we work across public and private sectors, institutions, associations, and hundreds of volunteers to create inclusive cultural and sporting experiences for everyone.”

World-Class Sport and National Pride

Denmark has a proud legacy at the European Championships, and this year is no exception. The national team features reigning champions Anders Antonsen (men’s singles) and Kim Astrup / Anders Skaarup Rasmussen (men’s doubles), who are expected to bring the heat to Forum Horsens.

“We look forward to creating yet another unforgettable sporting moment on Danish soil – in close partnership with our long-term partners in Horsens and Badminton Denmark,” says Lars Lundov, CEO of Sport Event Denmark. “This event is not only a celebration of world-class badminton but a platform to unite people through sport.”
